House League FAQ
When does the House league season start?
The house league season starts in mid April.
When does the season end?
The house league season ends with a championship weekend held in late June.
Where are the games played?
The house league program is run out of Iroquois Park and McKinney arenas in Whitby. All house league programming will be based in Whitby.
How old does a child have to be to play?
Our soft lacrosse program is available to both boys and girls whom were born in 2018 or 2019.
What is the expectation for the soft lax program?
The soft lacrosse program is a intended to be an introduction to Lacrosse. It is a program designed for these young players with a focus on fun and friendship!
My son/daughter is just starting out – is there a place for him/her?
Absolutely! The goals of the House league program are to have fun and to learn the game of lacrosse. You’re never too old to start playing Canada’s National Sport. Everyone is welcome in every division!
Does everyone play equally? What if my son/daughter is not as good as other kids?
The goals of our House league program are to have fun and learn this great game. Our philosophy is that all the kids play equally.
Can I sign up my child with a friend?
Our goal is to make equally balanced and competitive teams. As a result, not all requests may be met. But we will do our best to accommodate.
Rep Lacrosse FAQ
Does Whitby offer Rep Lacrosse?
The WMLA offers opportunities for selected players to represent Whitby while practicing and playing at a highly competitive level in provincial-based competitions in both field and box lacrosse.
What is the commitment for Rep Lacrosse?
This requires a higher level of commitment than would be expected at the house league level and you can expect to be busy several weeknights a week. Additionally during the Field Lacrosse season, expect to playing all your games on Saturdays (for U13 and lower) and Sundays (U15 and older). There are also tournaments through the box season culminating the Ontario Lacrosse Festival, which is held annually on the long weekend in August here in Whitby!
What do I need to tryout?
Players must be registered online with the proper documentation prior to tryouts. All box lacrosse equipment is needed for tryouts.
Is the Whitby Rep Lacrosse program a box or field team?
In Whitby the Rep teams play both field and box lacrosse during their seasons.
Any other considerations?
As with other rep sports, to play on a rep team, a family needs to consider the level of commitment they can offer the team and take this into careful consideration before trying out.
